Reflection (Part 4) - What’s your “selling point” in job hunting? (Excerpts)

"Selling Point" in job hunting

"I believe my advantage lies not only on one trait, but my skillset as a whole. I possess not only chemical knowledge, but also the ability in logical thinking, analysis and mathematical skills...

I am fairly familiar with everyday culture in western countries. This is quite an advantage when working in international firms or working overseas, as this would allow me to better understand and communicate with people of different cultural backgrounds."

Thomas

"I think my advantage is flexibility that I can adapt to a new environment easily. Plans can never keep up with changes so adjust yourselves quickly is always required in workplace.

I am also able to improvise quickly according to situations. There're always unpredictable problems. There's no better way to deal with them than reacting quickly and do what's necessary in a swift manner."

"HKU provides lots of opportunities for students to visit different places for learning. I have joined many different international programmes during my graduate study. Therefore,  I believe I have acquired a great global view which is essential for career development."

"Problem-solving skills and diligence are some of the abilities that I have developed all these years. They would definitely be beneficial to my future career and allow me to stand out from the crowd."

Adrian

"The first "selling point" of myself is good public speaking skills. It is essential for me, especially I am considering pursuing an education-related career. After this programme, I get more familiar with different kinds of posts, including sales marketing, one of whom I am acquainted with is Lain in Palintest.

The second "selling point" is the ability to break-down complex ideas into easily understandable ideas. In terms of education, it is useful and necessary to interpret chemistry concepts and make them comprehensible to students."

Kevin

"I have the mentality to always take the initiative to learn and work, this is given by the fact that my performance really matters in the well-being of my company.

I also have an innate talent to learn and absorb knowledge. As a Chemistry student I am very interested in my academic area. I also have knowledge in product management, personal/business branding and many more areas. I am a person who would actively ask questions.

As a peer, I am good with building close relationships. I am always the positive one in the group, and the one who is there to listen."
