Reflection (Part 1) - The major economy/industry now in UK (Exercepts)
Economy & Chemistry in the United Kingdom...
"Here at Newcastle, often times we hear about how a small project have received support from the university and went on to build their own R&D/product startup. We have also seen how companies collaborate with the university for product research. It seems very new to me personally, since I have never seen the School of Chemistry working on a project with external projects."
"there are still relevant key industries nowadays in the UK: construction, oil and gas, healthcare, manufacturing. Chemistry plays a key role in the research and product development of these industries."

"Other than business, the manufacturing sector like pharmaceuticals and chemicals, contribute much in UK's GDP, to. Within this region (Newcastle), chemistry graduates participate a lot in research and development and also production. As the job's availability is high, the chemistry graduates in UK are very likely to continue their career related to chemistry."
Raina
"As for chemistry, its related jobs constitute 21% of the UK's economy. Its application is still wide, covering both service and manufacturing industries, like shipping and pharmaceutical industry."
Kevin
“In the familiar area of chemistry, the industry is taking up 21% of her GDP. This includes both applied Chemistry and R&D done in cooperation between university and firms. Several thousands students graduate with a degree in Chemistry every year. Although not all students would continue their career in Chemistry-related work, this still demonstrates the size of the industry in UK, which is significantly larger than that in the other European countries.”
Thomas
"Chemistry is currently playing a major role in the manufacturing sector in various forms such as research and pharmaceutical sales as it is rudimentary for all sciences."
